Wild Turkey
Wild Turkey - Meleagris gallopavo
Thanks to trap-and-transplant efforts, wild turkeys now thrive in 49 states (nix Alaska). Wild turkeys are residents of all Canadian provinces except Ontario. Wild turkey range from treeless prairies and deserts, to mountains and badlands, to farmland and swamps. An adult turkey gobbler weighs from 17 to 22 pounds. It is a joy to call a wild turkey gobbler into the range of a 12 gauge shotgun.
